I am not much of a baker. Well, I can’t really say that anymore. But about a year ago- I was terrible at it. And anything with yeast made me cringe. I have never had any success with any type of bread… EVER! Yep. Sad, but true. Every Christmas morning, it’s tradition for my family to have hot cinnamon buns for breakfast. Typically, I’d buy store bought and bake them that morning… but for 2019, I said, nope! I’m making them myself. And I did. And they were AMAZING! Here’s the recipe for my delicious organic cinnamon buns!
Delicious Organic Cinnamon Buns
Ingredients

For Cinnamon Buns
- 1/2 cup organic milk
- 3 tbsp. organic salted butter
- 2 tsp. salt
- 3 tbsp. organic sugar
- 1 packet yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 5 cups organic flour, sifted
- 1 cup maple syrup
For Filling
- 1 cup organic sugar
- 1 cup organic powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp. organic cinnamon
- 1/4 cup organic salted butter, softened

Directions
- Scald milk
- Add salt, butter, and sugar, stir well
- Let cool
- In separate cup, add yeast into warm water
- Add cooled, scalded milk and yeast mixtures to flour
- Knead for 10-15 minutes
- Add a little more flour if sticky
- Cover bowl with towel and let dough raise, doubling in size
- Once doubled, roll out in a rectangular shape on a clean, floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness
- Spread softened butter evenly on surface, then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture
- Roll into long roll
- Slice into 18 equally sized slices
- Butter a 9″ x 13″ baking pan, then coat bottom with maple syrup (add chopped pecans or walnuts to the maple syrup, if you want)
- Place buns in baking pan
- Cover and let buns raise again, to double in size
- Preheat oven to 400*F
- Once doubled, bake for 20-30 minutes (You want them BARELY golden brown)

Icing
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup salted butter, melted
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 4 tbsp whole milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions
- Mix together well. After cinnamon buns are cool, top with icing. Enjoy!
